Bad News Bears

Football weather in March?!?!?!? Yep! And just in time for the season opener between the Bears & Raiders. It felt like we were in Chicago!

It was super cold & windy Saturday for Kaiden's 1st flag football game. I had not dressed him very warm because I underestimated the power of the wind! I also thought it would be too hard to play with layers so he just had a thin shirt & thin wind pants on. Ben dropped us off so he could go park. There were teams everywhere & I had no idea where our team was so we started walking around the field & of course we started on the wrong side & direction so we had to walk a long way in the blustery freezing wind. Kaiden started crying because he was so cold. And it WAS cold! I had left his hoodie in the car so there wasn't anything I could do. By the time we found the team he was in a tizzy about the extreme weather.

The coach tried to run a few practice plays & Kaiden kept coming over to me crying about how cold he was. To add insult to injury we had to buy a mouthpiece that was hard & too big. That didn't go over well to say the least. All of this is happening while a group of his supporters were arriving to watch his first game. (Uncle Mark, Aunt Margot, Kellen, Brad, Kelly, Reese & Riley) Kase was bundled but tired & not happy with the cold either. Kelly volunteered to hold Kase in the car which was perfect.

Kaiden continued to get more hysterical about being SOOOOOOO cold and basically refused to practice. The "game" (I use that term loosely) started & Kaiden just stood on the sidelines shivering & whining. Ben had brought his hoodie & Uncle Mark offered his ski gloves up. Since we couldn't take it anymore we eventually we put him on a rock & told him to watch his team. In a bit I noticed that he had stopped crying so I walked over & told him that the other team had scored. He said he was sad that the other team had scored so I asked if he wanted to try to play. He said he did so off he went. He managed to take a few snaps & at least play in the game. Hopefully, next week will be more seasonable & this will be just a funny memory.

After the game, they got snacks & Kaiden was all smiles... Da' Bears!
