So our little foster cat, Saber, is adjusting exceptionally well to the Schneider household. Buddy & Sasha haven't been too bad. We have the occasional kitty slaps & hisses but the kitten seems to hold her own pretty well. She's been using her own cat box in our bathroom until today. I put it in the garage along with the other cats' box. She has figured out the cat door so this will be the real test... will she go out there & use the box?...will the other cats let her?... We put up some signs around the neighborhood, but most were taken down by someone pretty quickly. We put her on Craig's list but I think she might be staying around. It's interesting to have a young kitten around again. You forget how playful they are. Everything is a toy to her. It's pretty entertaining.
Kaiden & I went to the grocery store a few days ago to get more litter (we're going through it faster these days) & we saw an older lady in a motorized cart about to get some cat food. I asked her if I could help her get it & she was grateful for the help. She needed 2 40 lb. bags of food & they were a challenge for me to get in her cart. I can't imagine how she was going to get them herself. Anyway she said she has 27 cats!!! (Ben asked me if I asked her if she wanted #28 - hee, hee). She also said she'd be back next week for 2 more bags of food. Wow! We struck up quite the nice conversation & she was smitten with Kaiden. He showed her pictures of Kase & was really sweet to her. She kissed the back of his head & said she couldn't resist. Kaiden just giggled. She was a sweet lonely lady who said all of her grandchildren & great grandchildren live far away. As we said goodbye, she asked Kaiden if she could have a hug. He gave her the sweetest hug & it really made her day & ours.
Hearing that she has 27 cats made me worry that I'm going to turn into a crazy cat lady... Cats have always found me. Either by themselves or by someone else bringing them to me or me seeing them & falling in love. As we consider keeping this newest one, I'd just like to say to all the cute felines out there: Please stay away from me! I can't become a crazy cat lady. : )
